Balboa Theatre (historic downtown movie palace)

The Balboa Theatre opened in 1924 as a vaudeville and movie palace with ornate Spanish-Renaissance style interiors. After decades of decline it underwent an extensive restoration and reopened in 2008 as a downtown performing arts venue hosting touring productions, concerts, and community events. The theater retains many of its original decorative features while incorporating modern stage and audience facilities.
