Winooski Block

The Winooski Block is a historic commercial building located at 1 through 17 East Allen Street in downtown Winooski, Vermont. Constructed in 1867, it stands as a remarkable example of post-Civil War architecture and is the only major structure to survive the urban renewal efforts of the 1970s. The building features a striking red brick facade, three stories high, with a flat roof and an ornate cornice. Originally designed for retail merchants, it also housed a large meeting space for community events. Today, it contains 24 apartments while retaining some of its historic storefront details, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
