Camp-Woods

Camp-Woods is a historic estate located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, built on a site that served as a 200-man outpost for George Washington's Army during the winter of 1777-78 at Valley Forge. Constructed between 1910 and 1912 for banker James M. Willcox, the estate features a stunning Italianate-Georgian style mansion designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw. The two-story brick and limestone house boasts a slate roof, Doric columns, and beautiful formal gardens. Visitors can find a flagpole marking the Revolutionary encampment, making it a significant site for history enthusiasts and tourists alike. Camp-Woods was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
