Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion

The Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion is a historic Greek Revival structure located in Blue Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Built in 1834, it is the only remaining building from the once-popular Blue Sulphur Springs Resort, a 19th-century mineral spa known for its therapeutic sulphur spring. The Pavilion features twelve brick columns supporting a square roof and houses a marble basin where the sulphur spring flows at a rate of 6 gallons per minute. The site has historical significance, having hosted notable guests such as Robert E. Lee and Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. Despite the resort's decline and destruction during the Civil War, the Pavilion remains a unique architectural gem and a testament to the region's spa culture, set in a picturesque valley surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains.
