University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (Penn Museum)

Established in 1887, the Penn Museum opened its landmark museum building on the University of Pennsylvania campus in 1899 to house archaeological and anthropological collections. Its holdings exceed one million objects and include extensive collections from Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Mediterranean, and the Americas. The museum has played a prominent role in American archaeology and public exhibitions of ancient cultures.
