Nietzsche Archive

The Nietzsche Archive, established in 1894 in Naumburg and later relocated to Weimar, Germany, is dedicated to preserving the life and works of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, primarily through the efforts of his sister, Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche. This archive played a crucial role in shaping Nietzsche's reception in Germany, despite facing criticism for allegedly manipulating documents for ideological purposes. After World War II, it became part of the National Research and Memorial Sites of Classical German Literature but was dissolved in 1956. Following German reunification, the archive's collection was transferred to the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and its current home, the Villa Silberblick, now serves as a museum, making it a significant destination for tourists and researchers interested in Nietzsche's legacy.
