Sunrise Tower, Penang

Sunrise Tower is an iconic 18-storey condominium located in the heart of George Town, Penang, Malaysia. Completed in 1977, it was the first condominium on Gurney Drive and held the title of the tallest building in the city until the completion of Komtar in 1986. The tower features a commercial podium that once housed the first McDonald's in Penang, which opened in 1989, and later became the site of Wendy's first Malaysian restaurant outside the Klang Valley. Despite its historical significance and central location in the Central Business District, both fast-food outlets have since closed, marking a shift in the culinary landscape of this vibrant area.
