The Mirage Volcano (artificial volcanic rockwork)

The Mirage hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip features an artificial volcano and lava-rock façade that has performed nightly eruptive pyrotechnic and water displays since the resort opened in 1989. The volcano is a man-made rock and concrete structure built around a lagoon to create staged eruptions, fire, and sound effects for visitors on Las Vegas Boulevard.
