Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle

The Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle was a visionary skyscraper proposed in Chicago, designed by renowned architect César Pelli. Planned to soar 1,999 feet with 125 floors, it aimed to become the tallest building in the world, surpassing the Sears Tower and the CN Tower. Unveiled in 1988, the project promised luxury office spaces, an observation deck, and an upscale restaurant, but faced challenges from economic downturns and market conditions. Tragically, the project was further hindered by the murder of one of its developers, Lee Miglin. Today, the site is occupied by a parking garage, but the ambitious plans reflect a significant moment in Chicago's architectural history.
