The Salem Laundry, located at 55 Lafayette Street in Salem, Massachusetts, is a historic building recognized for its architectural significance as the first concrete structure in the city, built in 1906. This four-story building features a distinctive design with three wide bays and broad windows framed by ashlar-tooled concrete blocks, reflecting a style that gained popularity in the early 20th century. Originally established by the Hooper family, who have maintained ownership since its inception, the laundry service dates back to 1806. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and was converted into condominiums in 2003, making it a unique blend of history and modern living.
