Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site (Poe legends and Philadelphia residence)

Edgar Allan Poe lived in the rowhouses now preserved as the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site while residing in Philadelphia in the 1830s and 1840s, and the National Park Service operates the property. Several of Poe's stories and poems were written or first published while he lived in Philadelphia, and the house is interpreted for visitors as a documented place of his residence. Local lore and later tour narratives have attached ghost stories and other legends to Poe's time in the city, which are presented as folklore rather than established fact.
