Sentinel Block

The Sentinel Block is a historic building in Iowa Falls, Iowa, completed in 1905. It represents a shift from the ornate Italianate style of earlier commercial blocks, featuring rectilinear brick panels and a patterned cornice. Notably, it housed the Iowa Falls Sentinel newspaper for over 20 years, tracing its origins back to 1857. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 and is part of the Washington Avenue Commercial Historic District, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
