The Studio Building, located at 2045 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, California, is a historic structure dating back to 1905. Once the tallest building in downtown Berkeley, it was originally constructed by Frederick H. Dakin for his real estate company and featured artists' studios and a gallery on the top floor. Notably, it housed the California College of the Arts in its early years and has been home to various artists and architects. The building showcases unique architectural elements, including a tiled mansard roof and distinctive arches. After being known as the Berkeley Hotel by 1917, it underwent restoration in the late 1970s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in the region's artistic heritage.
