Fort Rosecrans coastal defenses and national cemetery

Fort Rosecrans and the surrounding Point Loma headland include remnants of coastal artillery batteries and fortifications constructed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to protect San Diego Bay. The site also contains Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, an active military cemetery with interments from multiple U.S. conflicts. Documented gun emplacements, concrete batteries, and historic military infrastructure remain visible on-site.
