Palace Hotel Garden Court

The Garden Court is the ornate central dining and public space of the Palace Hotel, originally opened in 1875 and rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake for the hotel's 1909 reopening. The gilded columns, marble floors, and large stained-glass dome have been preserved or restored through multiple renovations and the space has hosted concerts, teas, and civic events. The Garden Court remains a notable example of late-19th/early-20th-century opulent hotel interior design in San Francisco.
