Hotel Chelsea

Constructed in 1883–1884, the Hotel Chelsea is a large red-brick residential hotel on Manhattan's West Side that became known in the 20th century as a home and workplace for numerous artists, writers, and musicians. Its rambling interior corridors, courtyard, and distinctive façade have been widely photographed and discussed in cultural histories of New York. The building has undergone renovations and ownership changes while retaining its reputation for artistic and literary associations. It is a designated New York City landmark and continues to operate with residential units and hospitality functions.
