Minute Maid Park opening in 2000

Minute Maid Park opened in 2000 as the downtown home of the Major League Baseball Houston Astros, replacing the Astrodome as the franchise's primary ballpark. The ballpark was built on the site of the former Houston Union Station and features a retractable roof and an outfield train as part of its design. Minute Maid Park has hosted regular-season and postseason MLB games since its opening.
