Independence Plaza (Shuttle Carrier Aircraft and Shuttle replica)

Space Center Houston's Independence Plaza displays a full-scale Space Shuttle replica named Independence mounted atop NASA 905, the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. The exhibit illustrates the Shuttle Approach and Landing Tests and the ferry operations used to transport orbiters across the United States. It is a public exhibit maintained by Space Center Houston, the official visitor center for Johnson Space Center.
