Big Four House

The Big Four House is a historic 19th-century building located in Downtown Sacramento, California, within the Old Sacramento State Historic Park. Originally constructed between 1851 and 1852, it comprises three buildings that housed merchants who played pivotal roles in the establishment of the First transcontinental railroad. Known as The Big Four, these influential figures-Collis Huntington, Mark Hopkins, Jr., Leland Stanford, and Charles Crocker-used the upper floors to organize the Central Pacific Railroad Company. The building has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark since 1961 and is part of the Old Sacramento Historic District, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in California's railroad history and architectural heritage.
