Bunker Hill Monument stands on Breed's Hill (naming anomaly)

The Bunker Hill Monument commemorates the 1775 battle but is actually located on Breed's Hill; most of the fighting of the Battle of Bunker Hill occurred on Breed's Hill despite the historical name. The monument and its surrounding park in Charlestown preserve the site of the battle and the naming mismatch is a longstanding, documented geographic-historical anomaly. Visitors to the monument are therefore standing on Breed's Hill at the so-called Bunker Hill site.
