Flamingo Las Vegas (original 1946 resort)

The Flamingo opened in 1946 on what became the Las Vegas Strip and is one of the earliest resort-style casino hotels in the city. Its construction and opening are closely associated with mob figure Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, who played a leading role in completing the project. The resort helped establish the integrated hotel-casino model that later defined Strip architecture and development.
