Ellis Island Immigration Station (Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration)
By Seeker
Ellis Island served as the United States' primary federal immigration station from 1892 to 1954, during which time officials processed millions of arriving immigrants and maintained medical and legal inspection facilities. Today the restored main building houses the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, operated by the National Park Service as part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. The museum interprets immigration stories through original artifacts, passenger records, and exhibits documenting the site's role in U.S. immigration history. The island is reached by ferry and remains a major historic and educational site for visitors tracing immigrant heritage.
