Zero Milestone (President's Park)

The Zero Milestone is a granite marker with a bronze disk located on the north side of the Ellipse in President's Park, south of the White House. It was dedicated in 1923 and was intended to serve as the reference point from which road distances in the United States would be measured. The marker is maintained as part of the federal parkland surrounding the White House and remains a visible, inscribed stone marker. The physical marker includes a compass rose and inscriptions noting its purpose and date of dedication.
