Merchants' Exchange Building

The Merchants' Exchange Building in Old City, designed by William Strickland and completed in 1834, is an early and influential example of Greek Revival commercial architecture in the United States. It served as a gathering place for merchants, brokers, and maritime businessmen and is noted for its semicircular Exchange Room and classical façade. The building is preserved within Independence National Historical Park and is recognized for its role in 19th-century commercial life.
