Braehead (Fredericksburg, Virginia)

Braehead is a historic house in Fredericksburg, Virginia, built between 1858 and 1859 for John Howison. This 6,000-square-foot home is notable for its connection to the Civil War, as General Robert E. Lee had breakfast there before the Battle of Fredericksburg. Originally named 'Greenview,' the house was renamed in memory of Anne Richards Lee, a relative of Robert E. Lee. The property features distinctive architectural elements and includes historical sites like the ruins of an icehouse. Braehead was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and is part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
