El Rancho Vegas (first Strip resort, burned 1960)

El Rancho Vegas opened in 1941 as the first hotel-casino resort on what became the Las Vegas Strip, initiating the pattern of large roadside resorts. The wooden hotel and adjacent structures were destroyed by a fire in 1960, and the site was subsequently redeveloped. The property and its original address are frequently cited in histories of early Strip infrastructure and resort development.
