Munson Building

The Munson Building, located in Independence, Iowa, is a historic structure built in 1893, showcasing Late Victorian French Renaissance architecture. This three-story brick building features a unique asymmetrical design with a four-sided tower topped by a pointed tile roof and decorative tin work. Funded by local businessman Perry Munson, it served as a community hub for youth programs in mechanical arts, and hosted organizations such as the Y.M.C.A., public library, and scouting groups. It was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
