33–37 Micklegate

33–37 Micklegate is a historic building located in the heart of York, England, with origins dating back to 1230. Initially featuring a large stone house, the site has evolved over centuries, showcasing architectural styles from the late 17th century to the early 19th century. The building includes a two-storey L-shaped block believed to be designed by Anthony Wharton, and a later addition by architect Peter Atkinson, who enhanced the property in 1812. Today, the ground floor houses shops, while the upper floors retain original features such as 18th-century panelling, 17th-century balusters, and unique plasterwork. The building was designated as Grade II* listed in 1971, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in York's rich architectural heritage.
