Grand Western Lodge

The Grand Western Lodge, located in Millthorpe, New South Wales, is a heritage-listed former hotel built in 1901. Originally constructed to accommodate visitors during the rural development boom, it features distinctive Edwardian architecture, including keyhole windows and a grand two-storey verandah. After closing as a hotel in 1961, it served as a boarding house for people with disabilities until 2011, facing serious allegations of mistreatment. Following a significant refurbishment, it reopened as a boutique hotel in late 2022, offering 19 stylishly updated rooms while preserving its historical charm. The site is recognized for its cultural significance and aesthetic characteristics, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
