Moulin Rouge Hotel (historic, long-vacant site)

The Moulin Rouge Hotel opened in 1955 as Las Vegas's first racially integrated hotel and casino but closed within months; over the decades the property at the original site has been largely vacant and subject to numerous redevelopment proposals. The building and site at the address have been the focus of local preservation efforts because of the property's role in civil-rights history in Las Vegas. The site has periodically been stabilized or secured while owners and preservationists negotiated potential reuse and restoration plans.
