Horace Anthony House

The Horace Anthony House, located in Camanche, Iowa, is a historic residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1991. Built in 1852 by prominent local citizen Horace Anthony, the house reflects both Greek Revival and Italianate architectural styles. It served as a stop on the Underground Railroad and was home to a family deeply involved in the community, including the founding of the local Baptist church. The house features a unique design with a limestone foundation, brick construction, and a spiral staircase leading to a roof deck. Visitors can appreciate its historical significance and the adjacent city park, which was donated by Anthony himself.
