Simeon Mills House

The Simeon Mills House, an Italianate-style farmhouse built in 1863, is located on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin. Constructed for Simeon Mills, a key figure in the early development of the area, the house reflects the architectural trends of its time with features like a low-pitched roof and decorative eaves. Mills was a prominent businessman and civic leader, involved in various enterprises including banking, insurance, and railroads, and played a significant role in the founding of the University of Wisconsin. Though he lived in the house for only five years, it has since been recognized for its historical significance, being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Today, it stands as a testament to the rich history of Madison and its early settlers.
