Morrison and Clark Houses

The Morrison and Clark Houses, located in the historic Mount Vernon Square neighborhood of Washington, D.C., are notable Italianate buildings constructed in 1865. Originally serving as homes for prominent figures during the Civil War, they later became an enlisted club for the Women's Army and Navy League in 1923. The club hosted numerous events, including teas by First Ladies such as Grace Coolidge and Jacqueline Kennedy. During World War II, it provided over 85,000 meals to visitors. Now operating as the Morrison-Clark Inn, this historic site is recognized as a Historic Hotel of America and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, making it a significant destination for tourists and researchers alike.
