Prince of Wales Hotel (Melbourne)

The Prince of Wales Hotel, located in St Kilda, Melbourne, is a historic venue established in 1862 and rebuilt in Art Deco style in 1937. Originally a residential hotel, it served as an officers club for U.S. military forces during World War II. Known for its vibrant nightlife, it housed Victoria's oldest surviving gay bar until 2020 and became a hub for punk rock and alternative music from the late 1970s. The venue features a large function space known as the Bandroom and has undergone several renovations, transforming into a boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant while preserving its musical heritage.
