US Weather Bureau Station (Block Island)

The U.S. Weather Bureau Station, located on Beach Avenue in Block Island, Rhode Island, is a historic site built in 1903 in the Classical Revival style. Designed by Harding & Upman, this two-story wooden structure features a flat roof with a balustrade and a full-width porch supported by columns. Originally serving as a weather station until 1950, it housed meteorological instruments and was crucial for weather observations. After its closure, the building was repurposed as a summer tourist residence and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it a noteworthy stop for history enthusiasts and visitors to the island.
