Blake Tenements

The Blake Tenements, built between 1760 and 1772 by planter Daniel Blake, are historic residential buildings located in Charleston, South Carolina. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970, these three-and-a-half-story brick structures showcase unique architectural features, including Flemish bond brickwork on the facade. Originally part of a larger estate granted to Gov. Joseph Blake in 1698, the tenements were repurposed for county offices after being acquired by Charleston County in 1967. Following damage from Hurricane Hugo, the building underwent restoration, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Charleston's rich history and architecture.
