Cheshunt House

Cheshunt House is a stunning Italianate mansion located in the picturesque Meander Valley of Tasmania, just 10 kilometers from Deloraine. Originally designed by the notable politician and botanist William Archer in the early 1850s, the mansion was completed by the Bowman Brothers in 1885 after being purchased incomplete. Despite facing periods of neglect during the World Wars and the Great Depression, it underwent significant restoration in the 1970s and remains in the hands of the Bowman family. Recognized for its historical significance, Cheshunt House is listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register and was featured on a commemorative stamp by Australia Post in 2004, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
