Big Tex and the State Fair of Texas

The State Fair of Texas is held each autumn at Fair Park and is a long-standing cultural event for Dallas. Big Tex is a 55-foot cowboy figure that has served as the fair's iconic greeter since first appearing in 1952. The original Big Tex was destroyed by fire in 2012 and a replacement was unveiled the following year, continuing the figure's role as a central symbol of the fair.
