Miss Willie's House

Miss Willie's House, also known as the Dr. Samuel Welch House, is a historic Queen Anne-style home located in Talladega, Alabama. Built in 1907 by Dr. Samuel W. Welch, a prominent state health officer, the house showcases unique architectural features, including double-brick walls, bay windows, and a wraparound porch adorned with Grecian columns. It is one of only three solid brick houses in the county and is part of the historic 'Silk Stocking District.' The house remained in the Welch family until 1997, with Miss Willie Wallace Welch, a local historian and librarian, being its last resident. Visitors can appreciate its rich history and architectural significance, including its early electrical and gas lighting systems.
