Faneuil Hall

Faneuil Hall was built in 1742 as a combined marketplace and meeting hall funded by merchant Peter Faneuil; it became a focal point for public debate in the colonial and Revolutionary eras and is commonly called the 'Cradle of Liberty.' The building is part of the larger Faneuil Hall Marketplace/Quincy Market complex and is included in the Boston National Historical Park. Today it remains an active meeting space and historic site visited for both its architecture and its role in Boston civic life.
