Shofuso Japanese House and Garden (mid-20th-century Japanese house)

Shofuso is a mid-20th-century re-creation of a traditional Japanese shoin-style house and garden that was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York before being relocated to West Fairmount Park in Philadelphia as a gift from Japan in 1958. The site includes a tea house, shoin, and landscaped Japanese garden and is intended to represent traditional Japanese architecture and garden design. It remains a rare example of a purpose-built traditional Japanese house in the United States.
