Argyle House, Albany

Argyle House is a heritage-listed building situated at 42-50 Stirling Terrace in Albany, Western Australia, offering stunning views of Princess Royal Harbour. Built in the 1890s, this two-storey structure features a distinctive rendered brick façade and a hipped corrugated iron roof, complemented by a central raised pediment inscribed with its name. The building showcases a line of arched windows on the second floor and reflects architectural styles similar to nearby Edinburgh and Glasgow Houses. Historically significant, it was occupied by the Adelaide Steamship Company in 1897 and later owned by Elizabeth Dunn in 1901. Recent conservation efforts, supported by a grant in 2015, have enhanced its charm, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
