Mount Saint Macrina

Mount Saint Macrina, located near Uniontown, Pennsylvania, is a significant pilgrimage site for Ruthenian Byzantine Catholics, attracting over 30,000 visitors each Labor Day weekend. Established in 1933 by Mother Macrina Melnychuk, this historic site features the monastery of the Byzantine Catholic Order of Sisters of St. Basil and the Thompson Mansion, which serves as a retreat center. The estate, originally known as Oak Hill, was once owned by coal baron J.V. Thompson and spans over 1,000 acres. The site is also home to a cemetery where notable individuals are buried, adding to its historical significance.
