Oklahoma River channelization and Boathouse District

The North Canadian River was channelized through downtown Oklahoma City and the altered reach is now marketed as the Oklahoma River, a managed urban waterway with a series of low dams and locks. The channelization created a multi-mile rowing and paddling course used for competitive rowing, crew training, and recreational boating. The Boathouse District along the river includes Riversport facilities and a man-made whitewater course adjacent to the rowing venues.
