Morton Freeman Plant Hunting Lodge

The Morton Freeman Plant Hunting Lodge, located in East Lyme, Connecticut, is a historic two-story Bungalow style house built in 1908 by financier Morton Freeman Plant. Once the heart of a vast 2,400-acre private game preserve, the lodge is now set on 105 acres surrounded by conservation land. Designed by architect Dudley St. Clair Donnelly, the lodge features original finishes and unique architectural elements, including fireplaces reminiscent of 16th-century European manor houses. The property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers a glimpse into early 20th-century hunting retreats and the legacy of a family that shaped the region's development.
