Chunnamal Haveli

Chunnamal Haveli, located in the bustling Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi, is a well-preserved mansion built in 1848, showcasing traditional Indian architecture with 150 rooms spread over three floors. Originally owned by the wealthy merchant Rai Chunnamal, the haveli played a significant role during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, where Chunnamal gained fortune by supplying provisions to the British. Notably, he preserved the Fatehpuri Masjid, a historic mosque, during a time when Muslims were expelled from Delhi. The haveli stands as a testament to the family's legacy, which included contributions to India's first textile mill and early adoption of modern technology. Today, it remains a cultural landmark amidst the vibrant market of Chandni Chowk.
