Royal Danish Silk Manufactury

The Royal Danish Silk Manufactury, located at Bredgade 34 and 36 in Copenhagen, is a historic building with a rich industrial heritage. Established in 1739, it faced numerous challenges, including fires and bankruptcy, but was revived multiple times throughout its history. The complex features two courtyards and was possibly designed by architect Niels Eigtved. It served as a significant center for silk production in Denmark until the late 19th century, when it transitioned to other uses. The building at No. 34 is protected and has housed notable residents, including a Minister of Defence and a composer, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
