Shirley-Eustis House (Colonial governor's mansion)

The Shirley-Eustis House was built in 1747–1753 as the country mansion of Governor William Shirley and is a rare surviving example of an 18th-century governor's residence in the United States. The wood-frame Georgian house sits on Shirley Street in Roxbury and preserves characteristic mid-18th-century architectural detailing and layout. The property has been restored and interpreted by a local preservation organization as a historic house museum and educational site.
