Seattle Central Library (Rem Koolhaas building)

The Seattle Central Library, designed by Rem Koolhaas/OMA in collaboration with LMN Architects, opened in 2004 and is noted for its glass-and-steel, nontraditional library organization. The building is widely cited in architectural literature for its innovative public-space planning and structural expression and has become an identifiable landmark on the downtown skyline. It serves as the central branch of The Seattle Public Library system and houses major collections and public programming.
