Elfreth's Alley (oldest continuously inhabited residential street)

Elfreth's Alley is a cobblestone street in Old City lined with 32 houses built between about 1728 and 1836 and is widely cited as the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the United States. Many of the houses were built by tradespeople and craftsmen and retain architectural features from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The street includes a small museum that interprets the site's residential and craft-history significance.
